• Do not eat or drink anything 4 hours prior to your test except water and medicine as instructed.
  • ABSOLUTELY NO CAFFEINE 24 HOURS PRIOR TO THE TEST.
    • This includes no coffee, tea, colas, soft drinks, even those labeled “caffeine free” or decaf. No foods containing chocolates including candy, frosting, cookies, pies, and chocolate milk.
  • No aspirin products that contain caffeine such as Anacin, Excedrin and Extra Strength Tylenol.
  • No smoking or alcohol consumption for 24 hours prior to test.
  • Do not take the following medication the night before the test and the morning of the test unless otherwise instructed by your physician:

    Acebutolol (Sectral)
    Metorprolol(Lopressor, Toprol)
    Atenolol (Tenormin, Tenoretic)
    Nadolol (Corgard, Corzide)
    Betaxolol (Kerlone)
    Penbutolol (Levatol)
    Bisoprolol (Zebeta, Ziac)
    Pindolol (Visken)
    Carteolol (Cartrol)
    Propranolol (Inderal, Inderide)
    Carvedilol (Coreg)
    Sotalol (Betapace)
    Labetalol (Trandate, Normadyne)
    Timolol (Blocadren, Timolide)
    Trental

  • Do not take the following medications the day of the test unless otherwise instructed by your physician :

    Cardizem (Dilacor, Diltiazem, DiltiaXT, Tiamate, Tiazac)
    Verapamil (Calan, Covera-HS, Isoptin, Verelan)
    Isosorbide mononitrate (Imdur, ISMO, Monoket)
    Isosorbide dinitrate (Isordil)
    Nitrobid, Nitrodur patches, Nitrong, Nitroglyn, Nitro Drip

  • Do not take the following medications for 3 days prior to the test unless otherwise instructed by your physician:

Persantine
Dipyridamole
Aggrenox
Theophylline
Aminophylline.

  • DO NOT TAKE INSULIN THE DAY OF THE TEST, BUT BRING INSULIN AND SUPPLIES TO THE OFFICE WITH YOU
  • You should plan on the test lasting for approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours for the entire test.
